Iraq is a wonderful country, rich of natural and archaeological treasures. In the following posts we’ll show you several picture taken by me and Franco during some visits made in the regions of Basrah, Dhi-Qar and Maysan.

We hope to arouse interest on our beloved country, Iraq, one of the most important future tourist destinations!

First of all, some little notions of geography. Here you found some maps with highlighted the three regions visited by us.

Basrah Governorate shares its borders with Kuwait to the south and Iran to the east, with Maysan governorate toward north east; Wasit Governorate toward north and Dhi-Qar toward north-east. The capital is the city of Basrah. The Governatorate includes other districts: Al-Qurnah, Az Zubayr, Al Mudaynah, Shatt Al Arab, Abu Al Khaseeb and Al Faw located on the Persian Gulf. Al Faw will become in the next years the main Iraqi Harbour.

 

 

 

 

 

Maysan Governorate borders on Iran toward east, Dhi-Qar toward west, Wasit toward north and Basrah toward south. Amarah, the provincial capital, is located near the Tigris. The second settlement is Majar Al-Kabir.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dhi-Qar Governorate borders on Maysan toward east, on al-Muthanna toward west, on Basrah toward south and on al-Qadisiyah and Wasit toward north.

Our next stop will be on Ur and Nasiriyah in the Dhi-qar Governorate, where the Italian Iraqi Archaeological Mission has his house.

L’Iraq è un paese meraviglioso, ricco di tesori naturali e archeologici. Nei prossimi post vi mostreremo alcune foto scattate da me e Franco durante alcune visite effettuate nelle regioni di Bassora , Dhi-Qar e Maysan.

Speriamo di suscitare interesse sul nostro amato paese, l’Iraq, una delle future maggiori destinazioni turistiche!

Prima di tutto , alcune piccole nozioni di geografia. Di seguito trovate le mappe con evidenziate le tre regioni oggetto delle nostre visite.

Il Governatorato di Basrah condivide i suoi confini con il Kuwait a sud e l’Iran a est, con il governatorato di Maysan verso nord-est, il governatorato di Wasit verso nord e quello di Dhi Qar in direzione nord-est. La capitale è la città di Bassora. Il Governatorato comprende altri distretti: Al- Qurnah , Az Zubayr , Al Mudaynah , Shatt Al Arab , Abu Al Khaseeb e Al Faw che si trova sul Golfo. Al Faw diventerà nei prossimi anni il principale porto iracheno.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Il Governatorato di Maysan confina con l’Iran verso est, col Dhi-Qar verso ovest , Wasit verso nord e Bassora verso sud. Amara, capoluogo di provincia , si trova vicino al Tigri. Il secondo insediamento è Majar Al-Kabir.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Il Governatorato di Dhi Qar confina con Maysan verso est , con al- Muthanna verso ovest , con Bassora verso sud e con al- Qadisiyah e Wasit verso nord.

La nostra prossima tappa saranno Ur e Nassiriya nel Governatorato di Dhi Qar, dove la Missione Archeologica Italo.Irachena ha la sua casa.
