We are talking about the Manga of Chie Shinohara,in her work, she presents, up to the twentieth century a.C unkown culture and population, the Hittites. The Hittite empire extended over the Anatolia (now Turkey), from the XVIII b.C. until 1200 (with the coming of the Sea Peoples). It is a population with Indo-European origin.

She is an Japanese manga artist. She debuted in 1981. She, with Red River, reached international fame. In her works, she shows a great ability to mix elements which come from the beliefs of Eastern and Western cultures.
Style: The line of her illustrations is soft and fine. She shows a lot of attention in the reproduction of objects (such as jewelry in Red River) and the details of the outline. Often, the landscape reproduces the mood of the characters.
Story:
The protagonist is a fifteen-years-old Japanase girl , named Yuri. She is magically transported to Hattusha , in the world of the Hittites ( XIV century b.C.), by queen Nakia to make use of her as a human sacrifice.
Here, she meets numerous friends and enemies: Princes (such as Kail Murshili, inspired Murshili II; his brother Zannanza and Mattiwaza or Shattiwaza, Prince of Mitanni), Queens (Nakia, ispirated Mal-Nakil, or the Egyptian Nefertiti) and Kings ( Suppiluliuma I or even the future King of Egypt, Ramses).
Yuri, during the history, becomes, in the eyes of his subjects, the incarnation of the Goddess Ishtar and falls in love with Prince Kail. Their story will not be easy because of the Queen Nakia, the wars, and many pretenders.
The story takes place during the reign of Suppiluliuma I, when there were the battles against Mitanni around the reign of Kizzuwatna (with the end of his dominance on this region) and, against Egypt for the borders between the two empires.
Red River rotates around the love between the two protagonists: Yuri and Kail Murshili. Yuri’s character is likely based on Puduhepa, the Priestess of Ishtar, who married King Hattushili III, in fact she played an important role in diplomacy with Egypt ( exactly as Yuri).
Red River is a engaging manga, full of dramatic turn of events and adventure. But…
…What will happen? Yuri will return to Japan or will remain at the side of his beloved?

Stiamo parlando del manga di Chie Shinohara che, nella sua opera, presenta un popolo e una cultura rimasta sconosciuta fino al XX Secolo d.C., gli ittiti. L’impero degli Ittiti si estendeva sull’Anatolia (attuale Turchia), dal XVIII Secolo A.C. fino al 1200 (con l’arrivo dei popoli del Mare).

Stile: Il tratto delle sue illustrazione è fine e sottile. Lei mostra molta attenzione nella riproduzione degli oggetti ( come i gioielli in Anatolia Story) e nei dettagli di contorno. Spesso, il paesaggio mostra lo stato d’animo dei protagonisti.
Storia:
La protagonista è una ragazza Giapponese di 15 anni che, si chiama Yuri. Lei viene trasportata magicamente ad Hattusha, nel mondo degli Ittiti (XIV secolo A.C.), dalla regina Nakia per usarla per un sacrificio umano.
Qui, incontra numerosi amici e nemici, Principi (come Kail Murshili ispirato a Murshili II, suo fratello Zannanza, Mattiwaza o Shattiwaza, principe di Mitanni), Regine ( Nakia ispirata a Mal-Nakil o l’Egiziana Nefertiti) e Re (Suppiluliuma I o ancora, il futuro re Egizio, Ramses).
Yuri, durante il corso della storia, diventa, agli occhi dei suoi sudditi, l’incarnazione della Dea Ishtar e si innamora del principe Kail. La loro storia non sarà facile a causa della regina Nakia, delle guerre e dei molti pretendenti.
La storia si svolge durante il regno di Suppiluliuma I, quando ci furono le battaglie contro il regno di Mitanni intorno al regno di Kizzuwatna (con la fine del suo dominio nella regione) e, contro l’Egitto per i confini tra i due Imperi.
Anatolia Story si incentra sull’amore dei due protagonisti: Yuri e Kail. Il personaggio di Yuri è stato basato probabilmente su Puduhepa, principessa di Ishtar, che ha sposato Hattusili III, infatti lei ebbe un ruolo importante nella diplomazia con l’Egitto (esattamente come Yuri).
Anatolia Story è un manga avvincente, pieno di colpi di scena e di avventura. Ma…
…Cosa succederà? Yuri tornerà a casa o rimarrà al fianco del suo amato?
